This 1880's French secretaire abbatant desk is made of wood adorned with intricate inlaid details and stained in a rich fruitwood color with honey accents. The front and sides feature inlaid accents of flowers, leaves, vines, acanthus leaves, urns, cornucopias, and butterflies. The inlaid art is accented by delicate inlaid moulding as well as wood and brass moulding. There are four drawers on the outside of the desk, one above the drop down leaf and three larger drawers below. Each drawer has decorative brass pulls and keyholes. On the sides of desk are turned columns with fluted accents and brass details. Inside the drop hutch are open shelves with six small drawers and one cabinet door below with brass pulls and keyhole. The desk has a felt work space and is very sturdy. The locks and keys are in great working condition. This secretaire is sturdy, stunning, and ready to be used in any home for years to come.
