The chair was made in collaboration with Zenith Plastics for the ‘Low Cost Furniture Design’ competition of the MOMA in New York. The result was the first industrially manufactured chair of plastic. Nowadays the chair series is produced by Vitra with a propylene seat shell. The seat is available in 7 colours and in this example combined with a beautiful metal rod base. It is also possible to upholster the seat, or to combine the plastic shell with a cushion. The great variety of bases makes an endless number of combinations possible.The Vitra DSR base can also be supplied with glides for soft carpeting or felt glides for hard floors.Available in the colours: black, poppy red, white, ocean blue, grey, cream and mustard.
