This example has travelled only 59,000 miles since new and has been masterfully restored with complete originality in mind to concours condition. The Italian red paintwork complements the tan interior and soft-top perfectly, both of which present in faultless condition. This example was stored for 48 years prior to its total restoration and as a result the bodywork is perfect. As one of the best examples in the world and certainly the best in Australia, this vehicle has been meticulously cared for by its previous owners.

The 1991cc Straight-4 is paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox and is optioned with overdrive from factory. The engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration and is in fantastic running order.  It is a pleasure to drive, showcasing the outstanding driving characteristics these British roadsters are so well known for.

Accompanying this Doretti is a history file including original purchase documents, import documents, registration certificates and historical information on the vehicle including photographs. The Doretti is an incredibly rare marque and this is an excellent opportunity to own a unique piece of British motor history. It would be an excellent addition to any collection.

The Swallow Doretti was designed and produced by the Swallow Side Car Company between 1954 and 1955. In this short production run, only 275 cars were built, and it is estimated that only 140 of them remain worldwide making them one of the rarest British roadsters available today.

Based largely on the Triumph TR2, these cars were quick in their day with excellent handling and a top speed of 100mph. These cars were designed by Frank Rainbow and drew much inspiration from the handsome Italian designs of the day, including the Ferrari-like front grille. The Italian sounding name was thought to assist in the marketing of these new sports car in the U.S.
