One of the rarest and most coveted of the Porsche 356 models is the D'leteren-bodied roadster. This example was produced in Stuttgart in June of 1961, and was sent from Porsche's final assembly plant in Brussels to Porsche Car Pacific in San Francisco for final delivery.

The Roadster was acquired by Knievel Imports in Butte, Montana on July 5, 1962. Knievel Imports was owned by Robert E. Knievel, the father of legendary daredevil Evel Knievel. The car would move on from the Knievels ownership on February 24, 1966 when it was sold to Gary and Beverly Beck of Montana. The Becks would go to own the car for the next 23 years.

On July 18, 1989 the Becks would sell the Roadster to a dealer in Arlington, TX. In 1990, Jack Griffin, a prominent Porsche collector/enthusiast in Dallas, TX would acquire the car. Griffin would keep the Roadster for the next 17 years. During that time the car would be repainted in its original color of Heron Grey, and the interior refitted in its original red.

Around 2008 Griffin would sell 89223 to his neighbor, John Harris Jr. Harris would enjoy the car until 2010. For the past four years the Roadster has been in the private collection of a BMW dealer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During his ownership the car's original engine was resealed, tuned-up, and a new clutch fitted. The speedometer and tach were serviced, and new drive cables installed.

Now at Canepa the rare 356 has been thoroughly mechanically inspected and concours detailed. Here is an excellent opportunity to obtain one of the rarest of Porsches, in exceptional condition, with matching numbers, and road ready.
