Maybach has a long pedigree of ultra-opulent and luxurious dating back to 1921. The German car manufacturer built some of the finest automobiles the world had seen up until WWII when they started to focus solely on diesel engines for wartime machinery such as the Panzer tank. During the late 1990s the brand was bought by Mercedes-Benz owners Daimler with the plan to revive the iconic marque for the 21st century. The first Maybach 57 and 62 models were released in 2002 and were based on the current Mercedes-Benz S class.

Although they were a technological masterpiece of modern engineering, sales were slow due to their unique styling. For this reason, only 3000 Maybachs were produced from 2002-2013 with each car losing Daimler approximately $400,000 USD. The "S" model was released in 2005 and featured the all-new 6.0L V12 Biturbo producing 603bhp with a top speed of 275km/h. This 2007 Maybach 57S was first sold new in Australia.

Being 1 of only 6 models to enter Australia it came with a recommended price tag of $1,100,000. The car has had only two previous owners.
