Ford - Cortina V-6 3.0 Essex Hillclimb auto in Lotus trim - 1963

US$6,186.24

RHD Ford MK/1 CORTINA in Lotus trim from 1963.The car was built for participating in serious Sprint races, Hillclimbs and Rallye events and features a chassis free from rust, a welded roll cage of CDS steel. The 3 speed automatic gearbox is ideal for short sprint and slalom competitions, you don't have to think about shifting gears. The engine is a 3000cc tuned Ford V-6 3000cc Essex engine with a limited slip diff from an Escort RS2000. The car is on alloy Lotus wheels with Yokohama A-048 semi slicks for optimal road contact and grip. The interior is stripped and it no longer has its door cards, the rear seat is still in there but can be taken out, it still is registered at the Dutch National Road Administration as a 5 seater car.Only the necessary items are present in the car so don't expect any heater, audio or other luxury, the engine makes the most beautiful music!Barn find from a barn in Sussex. It stood still for 10 years and with fresh gasoline, new battery, a revision of the brakes and a service with new spark plugs, oils and a revision of the carburettors, it runs like a charm. It could use a neater finish to make it more beautiful, but it’s purely built as a racer. The engine/gearbox combination is correctly registered in the license register. So if you have (classic) race aspirations or if you’re looking for a nice classic FUN car, then this car will be of good use. It is 53 years old, so don’t expect a new car, it suffered some dents/scratches/spots during its racing career, but that should not spoil the fun.It is permanently tax free and has a Dutch registration!PS: Are you looking for an original Lotus Cortina, then you will have to pay more than 10-fold the sum of this car.The car can be viewed and picked up in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands.
