Maserati 350 S - 3503 RecreationA race car, which can be used for vintage car rallies and even just for cruising. The vehicle has an Austrian registration and vehicle type approval, it’s entered in the vintage car registry and has a FIVA passport (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens).Only three 350 S factory race cars were built at the time, no. 3501 for Stirling Moss (the vehicle was allegedly completely destroyed in the 1956 Mille Miglia), no. 3502 for an Italian race car driver (according to records, this vehicle is now in the USA) and one - number 3503 - for Hans Hermann, who used the original vehicle, amongst others, in the 1957 Mille Miglia. The race car of that time was destroyed in numerous races, and the next model - the 450 - followed pretty quickly, so that no one payed attention to the 3503 and the others from series any more. Tom Meade bought the wreck in those days, the bodywork was entirely shattered - as he describes very accurately in his book - he subsequently completely rebuilt the vehicle. It hat several owners, but the car’s history is very difficult to research. The history of the factory race car ends with Tom Mead - famous for his Thomassima - who rebuilt this race car out of a former wreck. The bodywork of the factory model was shattered, so the Maserati got a new one in collaboration with Fantuzzi. Unfortunately, it was completely shattered again during later races. The car disappeared and his whereabouts were unknown. The car which is offered for auction here is and extremely authentic recreation, possibly a rebuild of no. 3503. It’s entirely possible, but there is no proof for that (yet). This car was repeatedly used by its previous owner (a relatively famous English race car driver) as a “factory race car”.Whether any - and if yes, which - parts of the factory race car were used during the construction of this sensational, nearly authentic race car, can honestly not be said. This vehicle is the perfect introduction into the world of classic car rallies and races, as far as its price and the driving experience are concerned, and it will always be welcome at nearly all events, even the big and popular ones. It has already participated in races at Le Mans, Goodwood, Ennstal-Classic, Spa, etc. Year of construction 1957, entered in the classic car registry and classic car registration. Very welcome at nearly all events.Due to the fact that the car is street legal, this fascinating vehicle can be used for recreation and “just for fun”. You will love it, the amazing sound, the airflow and the enthusiastic people on the side of the road turning their heads - with the current vintage trend, so many people will enjoy seeing this car. If it should ever turn out that this is actually the original car, your purchase would certainly become extremely valuable, the price of the car would increase approximately 7 to 10 times.Absolute driving pleasure, plenty of space for the driver and a passenger, it has a trunk, it’s street legal, with FIA papers (old), registered as 3503, visually and technically in absolutely great condition. The registration as well as papers and documents are all definitely attributed to the 3503 as a classic race car from 1957, with all necessary permits including registration for the use on public roads. Austrian papers which allow easy registration in any European country. This vehicle comes from a private collection/private car museum.
