Although ‘only’ 4.39 m in length, the convertible appears to be longer due to its enormous bonnet. This, in combination with a width of almost 1.80 and a height of 1.30, gives this ‘SL Baureihe’ an overwhelmingly classic look. Approx. 237,400 units were built between 1971 and 1989 (18 years!). About two-thirds of them went to the United States. This 450SL model version was produced between 03/1971 and 11/1980.
