Ford Mustang Shelby GT350H 1966
US$143,000.00 - 999 of these cars were delivered to Hertz in 1966- This is car number 999 of 999- Matching-numbers- Original purchase invoice, original registration and title certificates- All-original, unrestored condition- 306 horsepower Shelby-enhanced 289ci V8- Factory C4 automatic transmission with trick kit- Extensive history file including details on its previous owners, original owner's manual, verification of originalityIn 1965 the Shelby Mustang came to life with the introduction of the high-performance Shelby GT350. This lighter, more powerful and race-ready Mustang became an instant hit on and off the track. The car was such a success that in September of that same year, Shelby struck a deal with Hertz and offered the GT350H as a rental car. This program was appropriately labelled "Rent-A-Racer", and cleverly promoted the new Shelby to potential buyers. Only 999 of these cars were delivered to Hertz in 1966, and a total of 1,001 were produced. Today, the unique history and extreme rarity of the GT350H has rendered it highly desirable. This example was delivered to Hertz in Dayton, Ohio on the 18th February 1966. It was car number 999 of 999 delivered in that year and is one of only 48 in its red and gold colour scheme. Following its release from Hertz in May 1967, it was retained by Gallagher's Ford Centre in West Virginia, and sold to is first private owner in April 1969. After changing hands very few times during it's time in the U.S, it was imported to Australia in 2012. It is one of only twelve red/gold cars left in existence.Today, this matching-numbers example presents in all-original, unrestored condition. The paintwork is showing a wonderful patina of age having been only lightly touched up since new, and the interior is all original and in outstanding condition for its age. The original...
