As readily recognisable as the immortal 'Beetle' itself, the Volkswagen Type 2 and its derivatives enjoyed an even longer period in production than their saloon progenitor. The original was conceived in the late 1940s by a Dutch Volkswagen agent, Ben Pon, who drew up plans for a van based on the Beetle floor pan and running gear. Known as the Volkswagen Type 2 (the Beetle saloon being Type 1) the result of Pon's efforts arrived in 1950 and almost immediately proliferated into a bewildering variety of models catering for an enormous range of commercial and domestic activities.

The first generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 with the split windshield, was informally called the Microbus, Splitscreen, or Splittie among modern fans and has become an icon of popular culture across the Globe.

DD Classics is pleased to offer this beautiful example, finished in a lovely combination of Polo White and Cream, a subtle and stylish choice that looks magnificent. The interior looks superb with White leather upholstery piped with Beige. The Volkswagen also benefits from a Retro Sound chrome radio with Ivory buttons an extra touch of class that enhances overall feel of the van.

It is clear that our car has been carefully maintained by its previous owner. In recent years the camper van has undergone both cosmetic and mechanical works with a VW specialist, at considerable expense to the last owner in order to get the vehicle to the superb condition it presents itself in today. Some of these cosmetic works include; repainting the front and rear bumpers, repainting the lower half of the vehicle and the interior as well as fitting a new flooring. Mechanically, the car was serviced both in 2015 and 2016, ensuring it drives as wonderfully as it looks.

Within the history file there are numerous invoices detailing the works completed on the car.
