The yacht's cruising speed is 26 knots at 1,400 litres/hour. They can run at 15 or 20 knots, not only 26, where the fuel consumption drops significantly. If they are allowed sufficient time for delivery – and of course if the weather helps – they can reduce the cost.
SILVER WIND is able to run on an electric motor powered by the diesel generators - not the main engines and is capable of cruising at 8 knots. This is important in case of main engine failure or if the client wishes to do a very slow and quiet transfer from one spot to the other – bearing in mind that 8 knots is quite slow. This way the fuel consumption goes down to 100 litres/hour.
