Designed by Charles Nicholson and built at Camper and Nicholson, Gosport in 1937 according to the International Third Rule, for Baron Maurice Solvay. She was registered at Lloyds as Wings. Maintenance work was carried out every year after 1951 by the Cantieri Baglietto Varazze, Italy.
In 1962 the new owner Duke Edoardo Visconti di Modrone moved the home port to Cannes in France. In 1969 the rig was altered to become an auxiliary Yawl. Between 1970 and 1979 she changes name to Mohita 2, and in 1994 back to Aile. In 2000 her rig was restored to its original format, and she returned to her racing form, entering the America’s Cup Jubilee Regatta where she proved to be one of the fastest boats racing.

In 2007 she was completely rebuilt, under the supervision of Guy Ribadeau Dumas a French naval architect, at the Chantier du Guip in Brest France where the hull was completely rebuilt using stainless steel frames. She was the European Champion in 2014, and won her class at the Royal Yacht squadron’s 200th anniversary celebrations in 2014.
