Designed by Luigi Salmaggi the Gilera Saturno is a four-stroke 500 cm ³ OHV.
The engine is a classic pushrod single-cylinder Gilera of 500 cm ³, with bore and stroke of 84x90 mm. The gearbox is a four speed with foot pedal.
Four types were available: "Tourism", "Sport", "Competition" and "Race". According to the book Moto Gilera from Brizio Pignacca, aluminium cylinder heads were used on all models from 1951 on.
The Saturno remained virtually unchanged until 1951, when the front forks became telescopic .
The following year, they also got a rear suspension with a more modern swingarm and two telescopic dampers.
All together 6000 examples were made, largely divided in the following versions: "Tourism" and "Sport", also including 300 units "Competition", "Cross" and "Regularity".
This 1953 Gilera Saturno 500cc OHV is very nicely restored and well running.
Exotic , technically advanced and a beauty to look at.
