DETAILED PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

"Antique jewelry object group: tennis bracelet Condition: excellent condition Country of origin: unknown Style: Estate Period: ca. 1950 Material: platinum Extra information: Tennis bracelet - The in-line thin diamond bracelet that features a symmetrical pattern of diamonds is called a tennis bracelet. Tennis bracelets exist much longer then the term used for them. According to Diamond Bug, in 1987 Chris Evert, the former World No. 1 woman tennis player and the winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, was playing in the U.S. Open. She was wearing an elegant, light in-line diamond bracelet, made by jeweler-to-the-stars George Bedewi, which accidentally broke and the match was interrupted to allow Chris to recover her precious diamonds. The ""tennis bracelet"" incident sparked a new name for the item and sparked a huge jewelry trend. Tennis bracelets continued to be worn by various tennis stars like Serena Williams and Gabriela Sabatini, and Diana Kerrison. Before this, they were just called riviere- or inline bracelets. Diamonds: 38 semi-modern brilliant cut diamonds with a total estimated weight of approx. 4.30 crt. Their cut is semi-modern as the stones are polished around 1950 which means that although to todays standards they are considered to be modern brilliant cuts, their cullet (the point at the bottom) are still polished flat. Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting. Total diamond weight: approx. 4.30 crt. Birthstones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April. Hallmarks: The back of the closure is stamped with two words, ""PLATIN"" and ""KEVIN"". We do not have any background information on this Kevin, presuming hes the jeweller that made this bracelet. Dimensions: length 18.50 cm (7.28 inch) Weight: 32.10 gram (20.64 dwt) Reference N: 12158-0091 Copyright photography: Adin, fine antique jewelry "
