DESCRIPTION

Antique mid-19th Century extremely rare Indian solid 18k gold & enamelled snuff box, the sides are beautifully engraved with a cross hatch design and hinged cover with a sunburst, the centred with a plaque depicting an ancient battle scene.

Hallmarked with French pseudo marks, resembling the French post-1838 export mark and laurel leaves. Similar boxes have come on the market, with similar marks and have all been attributed to the city of Jaipur, renowned for making quality enamelled jewelery and boxes.
