The clock that lives from airThe temperature different provide the energy that boosts it.In 1927, an engineer of Neuchatel, Jean Leon Reutter developed a clock that takes the energy from the temperature changes in the environment. But it took some years to get to the workshop of Jaeger-LeCoultre and transform this idea in a technical specification that could be patented. And it was perfected to the point it obtained the perpetual movement, basically. In 1936, the manufacture started the production of the Atmos. The technical principle is captivating: inside of a hermetically closed bellows there is a mix of the gas and liquid (ethyl chloride) that dilates when the temperature raises and contracts when it decreases, making the bellows move. This movement winds up the main spring, a difference in the temperature of only one degree in the range between 15 and 30 ºC is enough for the operation of two days.DescriptionRare Jaeger-Le Coultre Model "Prestige" Ref. 220.00 build between 1980-1988 individually numbered in small numbers, so 1776. Continuing the design of early Atmos I, but with the modern movement 551 this is the higher considered Prestige compared to the current Atmos models and has a different look, it looks optically lighter. The dial is open in the middle and allows a vision of the movement with blue screws. The dial has Roman numerals, classic design. Like new condition, rare and collectible.
