US$2,461.28 Our Stock # LFA-1456This is an antique alabaster marble column support in the Greek taste dating to the Victorian era. - Raised on an octagonal platform surmounted by concentric turned plates, the column rises from a bulbous, gadrooned vase that together anchor the piece and offer a stabile platform above. - The tapering column is decorated with a helical reeding and, in classical proportion, is dressed with a collar featuring a reciprocating fret. Another plain band terminates the column beneath the flat, platform top. - The soft white, alabaster marble gently glows and is attractively grained in the base section. The column carries the odd minor dink as one would expect in a piece of this age but nothing that detracts from the overall appeal.
