Garry Winogrand (1928-1984) unflinchingly captured America's swings between optimism and upheaval in the postwar era. Best known for his New York City street photography, he switched gears-and coasts-to capture this 1964 shot of a sunbather and an employee of the iconic Beverly Hills hotel. The untitled work, from the portfolio _New California Views_, is also in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
