The group works under a single moniker in order to respect the team’s actions as a whole, which has ranged from 6 – 26 people since its inception in 2006. The collective produces innovative artworks that constantly contemplate the future of Asia, engaging sights and icons from old and new China while elevating the skills of new talents by working from a communal forum. Liu Dao’s art form is visual, interactive, conceptual, humorous and somber; always invoking fresh takes on modern technology and always the product of collaboration. The group places emphasis on interaction in order to engage artists, curators and technicians in the process of creating and experiencing art on a collective value. Liu Dao has appeared in prestigious art fairs worldwide, include Art Paris, Hong Kong Art Fair, Scope New York, Art Basel, Art Dubai and others. Special invitations for solo or group shows have included Louis Vuitton Cultural Space in Taipei and Macao; and the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing. The collective has also exhibited with the Rockbund Art Museum and the Smithsonian Anacostia Museum. They have also held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Bangkok, New York, Auckland, Milan, Taipei and Dubai, among others.
