Ford USA - Thunderbird - 1955
US$53,964.00 First year of the first generation of Thunderbirds. This 1955 Thunderbird was Ford’s answer to the Corvette that was just launched at the time. Designed as a fast and luxurious touring vehicle, this first generation of T-birds is able to reach a top speed of 120 mph - 190 km/h.The Thunderbird was a huge success. Despite the planned production number of 10,000 units, 16,500 unites were sold in the first year. The car grew to become a great icon and is a valuable investment. This 1955 T-bird is in a very nice condition. The bodywork looks nice and sleek. The seams are all fit nicely in place and the doors close well. The paintwork looks very good, it is smooth and shines nicely. Some small imperfections in the paintwork beneath the convertible top at the back but these are barely noticeable. Everything was demounted for the paint job. Very nice colour combination. This car looks great. The engine is a 292 cui 4.8L V8 with a 4 barrel Holley 4000 carburettor which is an original part of this Thunderbird. The carburettor has been revised and is as good as new, the lines have been replaced. The engine runs very nice and quiet, it recently underwent a major maintenance service including adjustment of the valves and an electronic maintenance-free ignition (inside the original casing) has been mounted. The car has a 12 Volts system. The gearbox feels solid and shifts properly. The clutch also works well. The interior is in very good condition! The seat has been reupholstered and the 4 way electric control mechanism works properly. The car features original details such as the telescopic steering wheel which is adjustable and a tachometer. Recently replaced soft-top which shows 3 small not so nice repairs where there used to be some damage due to...
