Constantly faced with the need for more power, Chevy kept building lighter, sportier cars, then stuffing a massive engine inside it. Since its induction in 1953, the Corvette kept filling the desire to keep the American dream for more speed alive every year. This one here is sporting a 454 CID V8, already producing a seemingly ludicrous amount of power, this one was topped off with a custom Edelbrock fuel injection system which contrary to popular belief, does more than simply increase efficiency, but due to the constant need to increase horsepower, it actually helps to increase the life of the engine. To understand why exactly, you would need to picture how a camshaft operates, in between each lobe of the camshaft there is a measurement called " Overlap", which is the miniscule time where both the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time. On a carbureted car, this time actually hurts the fuel induction, by reducing vacuum and allowing exhaust gasses to mix with the fresh air mixture, which on one hand causes that familiar angry lope of an old muscle car, but on the other hand causes unnecessary stress to the engine. Fuel injection allows for the fuel/air mixture to constantly flow, and actually keep the valves and exhaust gasses clean, making the engine sound slightly less angry, but run far more efficiently. The transmission is a well built turbo 400 automatic 3-speed, allowing for ease between shifts, but sturdy enough to handle the beating of a big-block Chevy.
