CB400T SURF HAWK
Eric’s lightweight surf bike comes from a long line of projects that got out of hand. Projects where we ignored the budget for the good of the result. Projects where we lost our minds. Sold as a Level 1 build, this little Honda was supposed to retain all its major components and get a basic Classified makeover. Instead, we ended up reworking the rear end of the bike completely and doing major surgery on the forks for good measure. All the complexity of a Level 4, in other words. Why do all this? Well, first of all the customer is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. That helps. Secondly, when we really got into defining the silhouette of the bike, the curvy, weird Hawk frame just didn’t fly. We opted to just start over with a new subframe and relocated shock mounts. Pair that with chopped and nickel plated fork tubes and the resulting profile is pretty sweet. The Kenda Big Block tires, low rise bars and, yes, fenders all combine to make Eric’s Classified ride a hit on the streets of Miami.
